Introduction The Electrical Technician role consist of carrying out maintenance, installation, and day to day repair of electrical systems in the group and ensure the continuity of operations in accordance with the applicable Clinix Health Group 'standards and other related legal requirements and best practices. Specification Attend to daily job cards as obtained from both internal and external customers and incoming emergency calls from time to time. Perform basic electrical load calculation in order to determine the load required for applicable supply, determine the sizes of UPS, generator and power factor required for the hospital or a section and/or unit in the hospital. Provide proper diagnostics on issues, basic faultfinding and troubleshooting on generators, power transformers, Isolation Transformers, lights and power points circuits, pumps and their associated control circuits etc. Perform generator weekly no load and monthly full load tests. Conduct daily repairs and routine preventative checks (daily, weekly and monthly) as stipulated on the work procedures and maintain safe operations of electrical installation and other. Repair/ fault-finding of the nurse call system, access control and CCTV's as well as installation of the new systems. Perform new electrical installation/upgrade(s) on the existing and/or new electrical installation (plant & machinery) Accurate record keeping of both service certificates and deviations job cards for all issues raised during normal and corrective maintenance. Knowledge of load balancing on single and three phases. Track, monitor and provide progress on all hospital specific projects undertaken. Able to work on kitchen equipment, hot water cylinders and replacement of elements on autoclaves. Able to access negative impact of the existing lighting system on the electricity account and recommend alternative cost-effective solution to reduce consumption and cost. Accurately and proactively identify problems and their associated risks which may affect the operations of all services (electrical, mechanical etc.) installation. Use known solutions in line with legal requirements. Required to be on standby and to respond to after hour's emergency as per the business operational requirements. Availability to work overtime when necessary and travel independently due to the 24-hour functionality of the hospital environment. Able to build and maintains relationship with clients (nursing staff, patients and doctors, external service providers) and ensure that feedback is provided timeously on all job requests. Participate in HOD, Sherq, Technical meetings. Facilitate daily team meetings within the department. Adhere to all technical policies, standards and legal requirements. Able to participate and prepare the hospital for various audits (Quality, DOH, COHSASA) Financials - budget management, payment schedules, petty cash etc. Human Resource - conflict, performance, time (Kronos) management etc. Month end deliverables - month end reports, compliance etc. Leading and change management - ability to implement and support change initiatives and to provide leadership in times of uncertainty. Requirements •National Diploma or N5 Certificate (Qualified Electrician) Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in hospital/healthcare environment. Able to work in a team and manage at least 2 Maintenance Assistants. Proven knowledge of Electrical Installations and reticulation, project management will be advantageous. Knowledge of local building legislations (codes) and other related requirements will be advantageous. Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act. Through evaluation (assess), monitor (conduct periodic and unannounced surveillance) of compliance to operations of an aircraft: a)making recommendations regarding the issuance or amendment of the AOC and the associated operations specifications, and the operator's competence to continue to exercise the privileges of the certificate; b)making recommendations concerning any special conditions that, in light of the investigation, may need to be imposed; c)informing the operator of any deficiencies needing rectification; and d) making recommendations concerning appropriate enforcement action Specification Site and Airline Inspections a.conduct routine inspections such as the inspection of a station facility, apron, en-route operation and base and carry out oversight or checks considered necessary at prescribed intervals; b.assess the effectiveness of the operator's SMS and the level of resources allocated to it; c.conduct such inspections or oversight in accordance with an established work programme and applicable standard procedures and instructions; d.advise the operator, in writing, of any significant deficiency, requesting a proposal for remedial action; e.conduct follow-up on inspection reports to ensure that appropriate action has been taken in a timely manner; f.submit reports on each inspection or investigation in the manner prescribed, and complete and process the applicable inspection forms; g.investigate and report, as required, possible violations of the basic aviation law or related safety operating regulations and rules; h.continuously review the operator's pertinent documentation (e.g. operations, training and MCMs), company policies, operating instructions and information to staff and system of amendments to determine whether they are accurate and made available in a timely manner to persons requiring their use; i.keep appropriate CAA inspectorate staff informed on all aspects of the current operation and projected developments in the company including changes in executive personnel, in assigned responsibilities and in the operator's organization in general; and j.conduct qualification, approval and supervisory activities with respect to personnel proposed as designated examiners by an operator Maintenance and Acquisition of Specialist SkillsKeep abreast and remain proficient in specialist skills, human factors and new developments of technology. Proposals and Revision of StandardsProactively research, develop and propose the specific standards to be applied in the area of operator operations. Communications and Safety PromotionProject a satisfactory image of the SACAA to all stakeholders. Provide industry feedback to the Authority. Promote aviation safety by proposing improvements in operational requirements.
